Penn State Celebrates 100 Days ‘Til THON 2022

Well, folks, it is officially 99 days until THON 2022 kicks off. Although this year’s dance celebration will take place in person at the Bryce Jordan Center, there was plenty of fun to be had at the HUB on Wednesday,

Wednesday’s 100 Days ‘Til THON celebration was the official kickoff of fundraising season for the event. Students, volunteers, and more gathered at the HUB to celebrate the occasion and look forward to THON itself.

The festivities began with a number of performances from Penn State dance groups. This included Ram Squad, Island Fever, Orchesis, and Vole. Each club had an energetic performance, but Island Fever got the win from the guest judges, which included Podward State guest Katie Feeney.

Celebrations continued all over the HUB with a silent disco, cornhole, bracelet making, and treats from the Penn State Bakery.

The afternoon opened with even more Penn State talent including acapella groups like Blue in the FACE and Harmony, as well as singer Olivia Notto.

Singer Olivia Notto performed a rendition of “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore.

Penn State’s very own Lionettes also gave a show-stopping performance FTK.

The final few events of the day saw hair donations and more line dancing. For THON supporters at home, virtual activities included challenges between THON captains and heartwarming stories from Four Diamonds families.

Wednesday’s event ended when THON revealed its fundraising total for this year’s Dream Forward campaign. The organization wound up raising $1,055,836.46 in the past 16 days, smashing a fundraising goal of $600,000.
