Penn State Football Wide Receiver Justin Weller Transfers To LIU

Update, February 23: Former Penn State football wideout Justin Weller is transferring to Long Island University after spending five years in Happy Valley.

Weller spent over a month in the portal and chose LIU over Wheeling University and St. Francis (PA).

Original Story: After five years in Happy Valley, Penn State football wide receiver Justin Weller has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

The redshirt senior wideout announced his decision via Twitter Monday afternoon.

Over the course of his five years with Penn State, Weller appeared in 12 games. He’s a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and received the Outstanding Run-on Award for the 2021 season. This past year, Weller played in nine games for the Nittany Lions.

The Illinois native’s only catch as a Nittany Lion came back in 2019. Weller totaled 10 yards on a reception in the season opener against Idaho.

The wide receiver, who has one year of eligibility left in college football, arrived at Penn State in 2017 as a two-star prospect. According to 247Sports, Weller was the No. 96 overall player coming out of his home state and garnered recruiting interest from Arizona State, Illinois, and NC State, among others.
