You Could Be The Blue Band’s Next Blue Sapphire

As four-year star Gillian Brooks gets set to hang up the batons, Penn State’s Blue Band is officially opening up auditions to find its next Blue Sapphire.

To begin the audition process, those interested are asked to fill out an interest form found on the Blue Band’s website. Then, applicants are required to perform a three or four-minute routine in addition to executing a 45-second routine to a song chosen by judges at an audition. Finally, there is an interview with judges, too.

Prior to Brooks’ four-year run as Blue Sapphire, Rachel Reiss held the position the previous four years before her graduation from Penn State in 2018.

Aside from the Blue Sapphire, applications for the Blue Band’s ensemble, Majorettes, and Silks are open, too. The interest form for these positions can be found on the Blue Band’s website.
