Fraternity & Sorority Themes At THON 2022

THON is back in person, which also means a return of fraternity and sorority themes to the Bryce Jordan Center. Greek organizations all around the arena decorated letters and t-shirts to support their Four Diamonds families and fellow dancers.

Here are some of the themes that helped light up THON 2022.

Sigma Kappa & Phi Gamma Delta:

Don’t let the letters scare you too much and make sure you don’t have a sock stuck to your back. Monster’s Inc. made its way into the BJC and we’re screaming about it.

Phi Kappa Psi & Alpha Omicron Pi, Gamma Phi Beta & Acacia:

(Left:) THON is For The Kids and Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. The iconic duo of Lilo and Stitch brought some of the beach to THON this year. (Right:) On the other hand, hide all your Dalmatians because Cruella de Vil just might make an appearance.

Theta Delta Chi:

Superman, Iron Man, and Captain America, oh my! The superheroes are in the building tonight giving us both the Marvel and DC Universes.

Delta Gamma & Delta Upsilon:

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been a favorite in the movie theaters and a favorite for THON so far. Peter Parker would be proud!

Pi Kappa Alpha & Kappa Alpha Theta:

This one brings us to the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life. No worries and Hakuna Matata.

Alpha Phi Delta & Phi Sigma Rho:

Now that the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl, you can close the door on the NFL season. However, here at Penn State, we’re a football school all year-’round.

Sigma Delta Tau & Zeta Beta Tau:

The baseball theme returns and the season will be here before we know it…if the MLB and MLBPA can come to an agreement.

Trilogy & Phi Sigma Kappa, Phi Kappa Sigma & Orchesis Dance:

(Front:) Does anyone else remember the moment when Steve left Blue’s Clues when we were kids and ever wondered why? Luckily, we just got a letter that Blue was here in the BJC and all the childhood memories came flooding back. (Back:) Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Everyone’s favorite sponge, SpongeBob, and his friends made their appearance here at the BJC.

Gamma Sigma Sigma & Tau Epsilon Phi:

We like to move it, move it here at THON! Madagascar favorites Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria made their way here all the way from the Central Park Zoo in New York City.

Alpha Tau Omega & Zeta Tau Alpha:

Waka! Waka! The Muppets are iconic and played a role in the childhoods of countless kids. We can hear Kermit the Frog singing “The Rainbow Connection” in our heads now.

Delta Zeta & Sigma Pi:

Great Scott! Back to the Future is one of the most well know trilogies of the 80s. We wonder when Doc and Marty hopped in the DeLorean if they saw any of this coming?

Phi Sigma Sigma & Alpha Gamma Rho:

For all the gamers at THON, Minecraft is here. With the earthy greens and browns, you can’t miss it. Watch out for a Creeper!

Phi Gamma Nu:

Monster’s Inc. is back again and Mike Wazowski and Sully have proven to be a favorite theme choice for this year.

Pi Kappa Theta & Alpha Delta Pi:

Gotham City has arrived, lighting the night with the Batman signal. The black and yellow tones stand out despite the Dark Knight’s typical dark cape and mask.

Lambda Chi Alpha & Alpha Xi Delta:

This one takes us straight into the jungle. It’s all in “The Bare Necessities,” and watch out for any snakes slivering around.

Alpha Rho Chi & Pi Beta Phi:

This theme is sending us under the sea to visit our close friends Nemo and Dory. Don’t worry: If you get lost, just keep swimming.

Pi Kappa Phi:

These letters are taking us into the deep galaxy. With its deep hues of blue, black, and purple it’s almost as we are in space ourselves.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon:

Timothee Chalamet has been named the newest Willy Wonka and top hats off to him. The royal purple and gold resemble the chocolate bars straight from the previous films.
