Prerequisite Override Requests Now Available In LionPATH

Gone are the days of submitting paperwork to request a prerequisite override. Now, students can do it through LionPATH.
LionPATH’s prerequisite override request replaces the paper process that students need to complete to enroll in classes that enforced prerequisite, concurrent, and corerequisite requirements.
If you’re not sure what a prerequisite, concurrent, or corequisite class is, here’s a quick breakdown:
- A prerequisite is a required class you must pass before being able to enroll in a given class.
- A concurrent is a class that you must pass either before or at the same time as a given class.
- A corerequisite is a class you must pass during the same semester as a given class.
Through the digital LionPATH form, students can request to enroll in a class that they are missing a prerequisite or corerequisite for or drop a class that is a corerequisite or concurrent for another class that they want to stay enrolled in. When submitted, the form can be approved or denied in LionPATH by the corresponding academic department or campus representative.
If requests are approved, students will receive an email detailing approved classes and sections. Students can then self-enroll in the class as usual. They’ll also be able to add themselves to waitlists and swap sections for classes that have been approved.
While filling out the form, students must be able to explain why an exception should be made and submit supporting documents, such as a transcipt, if possible. Some reasons for an exception are completed AP exams or grades from an equivalent class at a different university.
