Penn State Portraits: Recreating Famous Paintings From Happy Valley
Everyone loves some classic and old-fashioned paintings, and everyone loves Dear Old State. So, we decided to recreate some classics right here from Happy Valley.
We put our visual staff to the task to see what creative Penn State twists they could come up with. After searching through our archives and a little bit of editing, here are some of our best creations.
‘A Sunday Afternoon On The Island Of La Grande Jatte’ by Georges Seurat
You may have seen this one in the museum scene in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Here’s the original painting…
…and here is what we came up with. Perfect for a spring day on campus, right?
‘Starry Night’ by Vincent van Gogh
We just couldn’t leave Starry Night out.
‘Nighthawks’ by Edward Hopper
This painting is perhaps not as well known as the previous painting, but it’s definitely a classic.
We traveled downtown for this recreation.
‘Mona Lisa’ by Leonardo da Vinci
This is another showstopper that we definitely could not leave out of the mix. Who better to be our Mona Lisa than the Willard Preacher himself? Looking sharp, Gary!
‘American Gothic’ by Grant Wood
Last but not least, we recreated this famous piece.
You already know who we picked to recreate this renowned painting…President Eric Barron and President-elect Neeli Bendapudi!
That rounds off our list. We think it is safe to say that Penn State is quite picturesque!
