Temple’s Alexa Williamson Announces Transfer To Lady Lions

Former Temple forward Alexa Williamson announced Wednesday that she’s transferring to Penn State women’s basketball.

Williamson, who hails from Houston, Pennsylvania, shared the news on Instagram along with a picture of herself with Penn State coach Carolyn Kieger. She’ll spend her last year of eligibility with the Lady Lions after playing for Temple for the previous four seasons.

Williamson debuted for Temple as a true freshman in 2018 before becoming a full-time starter in 2019. She shined during the 2021 season when she averaged 12.5 points per game and started every game of the shortened schedule. Following the season, she earned second-team All-Big 5 honors within the Philadelphia circuit.

During the 2021-22 season, Williamson was Temple’s second-best scorer after averaging 8.2 points and five rebounds per game, all while the Owls limped to a 13-15 overall record. She started 17 of Temple’s 28 games.

Williamson will join a Penn State team aiming to improve upon an 11-18 record during the 2021-22 season. The Lady Lions won just five games in Big Ten play and lost in the first round of the conference tournament.
