‘Midstate Select’ To Hold Album Release Concert April 29 At State Theatre

Local band Midstate Select will celebrate the release of its debut album, “On The Road To Lonesome”, with a concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the State Theatre.

Fellow bands Old Lady and Ma’aM will open up for Midstate Select Friday night to help the group celebrate the album.

The concert is sponsored by Pine Grove Hall, Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks, Happy Valley Brewing Company, and Shy Bear Brewing.

Midstate Select started as a side project for four State College locals until the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, which allowed the group to focus on and develop the band’s sound with newfound free time. Since then, the band has been working on its album with some help from other artists in the State College music scene.

The group is known for playing a blend of country, folk-rock, blues, and soul. In previous interviews, its members have cited groups like Crosby Stills and Nash as key influences.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased on the State Theatre’s website. Check out Midstate Select’s Facebook and Instagram pages for more updates on future shows and projects.
