[Live Blog] The 2022 NFL Draft

The 2022 NFL Draft is still rolling, folks.

The third day of the draft kicks off at noon with rounds four, five, six, and seven in the cards live from Las Vegas.

To this point, six Nittany Lions have joined NFL teams, as Jahan Dotson was selected by the Washington Commanders at No. 16 overall, while Arnold Ebiketie and Jaquan Brisker were scooped up in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears, respectively.

Jordan Stout and Brandon Smith each found their new home with the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers, respectively, in the fourth round. Later, Tariq Castro-Fields was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers as the 221st pick.

Day Three

6:59 p.m. — Mr. Irrelevant has been picked by the 49ers, and that’s the end of day three of the NFL Draft. Thanks for following along with our coverage.

6:52 p.m. — Linebacker U is real.

6:49 p.m. — That’s the 7⃣th Nittany Lion drafted this weekend, folks.

6:48 p.m. — That’s Ottawa’s Very Own heading to Glendale.

6:46 p.m. — There goes Jesse Luketa to the Arizona Cardinals with the 256th pick!

6:40 p.m. — Dane Brugler of The Athletic dubbed Rasheed Walker the 10th-best offensive tackle in the draft. Some projected Walker to be scooped up in the 3rd or 4th round, but the Packers picked him up at the tail end of the 7th round.

6:37 p.m. — Walker will join former Penn State teammate and safety Adrian Amos in Green Bay.

6:36 p.m. — “The draft is the NFL’s Coachella.” Yeah.

6:34 p.m. — Green Bay bound ➡

6:29 p.m. — ESPN’s broadcast described Rasheed Walker as somewhat of an “underachiever” and alluded that there is a reason Walker was drafted in the 7th round. However, Twitter seems to disagree and believes that Walker is a steal for Green Bay.

6:27 p.m. — 

6:26 p.m. — RASHEED WALKER TO THE PACKERS! Walker is the 249th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

6:16 p.m. — Patience paid off ?

6:07 p.m. — Yup.

6:03 p.m. — We’re officially midway through the 7th round. Jesse Luketa, Rasheed Walker, Ellis Brooks, and Derrick Tangelo are still waiting to hear their names called.

5:47 p.m. — DeMeco Ryans, here comes TCF.

5:45 p.m. — ?

5:43 p.m. — Happy Valley ➡ San Francisco

5:39 p.m. — TCF is going to look good in red ?

5:27 p.m. — The pick is IN! The 49ers select cornerback Tariq-Castro Fields with the 221st pick!

5:13 p.m. — Jordan Stout took to Instagram to announce his selection to the Ravens.

5:07 p.m. — Oh well.

4:58 p.m. — Fellow Big Ten player Connor Heyward is drafted to the Pittsburgh Steelers alongside his brother, Cam Heyward. That’s four sets of brothers on the Steelers’ roster.

4:44 p.m. — Thinking about this.

4:26 p.m. — Ottawa’s Very Own, Jesse Luketa returned to his high school last night to speak to students alongside Dalls Cowboy Neville Gallimore. Send this guy to the NFL.

4:09 p.m. — Guys, it’s 4:09.

4:05 p.m. — It’s been a slow couple of hours for Penn State fans watching the draft. Stay hopeful Nittany Nation.

1:19 p.m. — The Baltimore Ravens take punter Jordan Stout in the fourth round at No. 130 overall! The first punter off the board this year!

1:13 p.m. — Penn State is the undisputed LBU!

1:12 p.m. — Smith will join former teammate Yetur Gross-Matos in Carolina, under head coach (and former Penn State walk-on) Matt Rhule.

1:03 p.m. — Brandon Smith is one of the most athletic linebackers in this draft class. The Panthers may have gotten a steal.

12:56 p.m. — Penn State’s first draft pick of Day Three:

12:51 p.m. — And there it is! The Carolina Panthers trade up and draft Brandon Smith. That’s three Nittany Lion defenders drafted so far this year.

12:35 p.m. — Penn State linebacker Brandon Smith is slowly climbing Mel Kiper’s Best Available list. It may only be a matter of time before we hear his name.

12:24 p.m. — Offensive tackle Daniel Faalele, from Minnesota, is selected by Baltimore at No. 110.

12:10 p.m. — The Tampa Bay Bucs start the day off with Cade Otton, tight end out of Washington. How long until the first Nittany Lion goes today?

12:05 p.m. Commissioner Roger Goodell is out to open Day Three of the NFL Draft.

11:51 a.m. — We’re just about ready for day three of the draft. Lock in, folks!

Day Two

11:30 p.m. — SMU wide receiver Danny Gray is drafted at No. 105 overall by the San Francisco 49ers, and that’ll do it for round three. We’ll see you tomorrow afternoon, when rounds four to seven resume at noon on ESPN.

11:12 p.m. — At No. 98 overall, Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr. heads to the Washington Commanders.

11:02 p.m. — Wow! The Carolina Panthers sent their 137th pick and a 2023 third-round pick to the New England Patriots to move up and draft Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral at No. 94 overall!

10:40 p.m. — Round three takes a while, huh?

10:28 p.m. — It’s another Pennsylvania party! The Seteelers take DeMarvin Leal from Texas A&M at No. 84 overall.

10:27 p.m. — Go Birds? The Philadelphia Eagles select Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean at No. 83 overall.

10:09 p.m. — Football.

9:59 p.m. — Desmond Ridder will join Arnold Ebiketie in Atlanta!

9:55 p.m. — Virginia tight end Jelani Woods goes to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 73 overall.

9:47 p.m. — Soak it all in, Jaquan!

9:27 p.m. — Onward (State) to round three!

9:24 p.m. — At No. 64 overall, the Buffalo Bills, who are the only football team located in New York, select Georgia running back James Cook.

9:21 p.m. — Only one quarterback has gone off the board so far. That’s interesting!

9:07 p.m. — “The Chicago Bears just drafted a tremendous athlete and leader in Jaquan Brisker, who will make an immediate impact on their organization,” James Franklin said. “He is a ball hawk who puts himself in position to consistently make big plays through his preparation, toughness, and the physical nature he brings to the secondary.”

9:03 p.m. Falcons at No. 58 overall…

8:59 p.m. — The Buffalo Bills traded the No. 57 overall pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who selected Central Michigan offensive tackle Luke Goedeke.

8:50 p.m. — Western Michigan wide receiver Skyy Moore is heading to the Kansas City Chiefs, selected at No. 54 overall.

8:43 p.m. — It’s a Pennsylvania party! The Pittsburgh Steelers follow the Eagles’ pick by selecting Georgia wide receiver George Pickens at No. 52 overall.

8:42 p.m. — The E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES select Nebraksa center Cameron Jurgens at No. 51 overall.

8:35 p.m. — The New Orleans Saints drafted Tennessee cornerback Alontae Taylor at No. 49 overall, followed by the New England Patriots selecting Baylor wide receiver Tyquan Thornton at No. 50.

8:29 p.m. — SC ➡ CHI

8:27 p.m. — Bear down!

8:21 p.m. — With the No. 48 overall pick, the Chicago Bears select… JAQUAN BRISKER!

8:12 p.m. — Is that James Franklin on stage?

8:09 p.m. — With the No. 45 overall pick, the Baltimore Ravens select Michigan linebacker David Ojabo.

8:05 p.m. — The Houston Texans select John Metchie III at No. 45 overall.

7:59 p.m. — AK is really a Falcon, man.

7:55 p.m. — Blue Mountain State head coach Marty Daniels Ed Marinaro announces the Minnesota Vikings select Clemson defensive back Andrew Booth at No. 42 overall.

7:52 p.m. — The moment Arnold Ebiketie’s dreams became reality!

7:49 p.m. — With consecutive picks, the Seattle Seahawks take Boye Mafe and Ken Walker II at No. 40 & 41 overall, respectively.

7:40 p.m. — The Chicago Bears select Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon at No. 39 overall.

7:37 p.m. — Ebiketie has officially made it to the big leagues.

7:35 p.m. — At No. 38 overall, the Atlanta Falcons select… ARNOLD EBIKETIE!

7:28 p.m. — With the No. 36 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS select Iowa State running back Breece Hall.

7:22 p.m. — The Tennessee Titans select Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary with the No. 35 pick.

7:19 p.m. — The Minnesota Vikings traded the No. 34 overall pick to the Green Bay Packers, who select North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson.

7:16 p.m. — At No. 33 overall, the Buccaneers select Houston DT Logan Hall.

7:10 p.m. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the clock to kick off round two!

7:07 p.m. — I’m not sure what’s going on right now, but these acrobats are very talented.

6:57 p.m. — We! Are! Back!

Day One

11:37 p.m. — With the final pick in the first round, the Minnesota Vikings select Georgia safety Lewis Cine. That’ll do it for the first night of the 2022 NFL Draft. We’ll see you all at 7 p.m. tomorrow when the draft resumes for its second and third rounds. Jaquan Brisker and Arnold Ebiketie should hear their names called early on Friday night.

11:28 p.m. — At No. 31 overall, the Cincinnati Bengals take Michigan safety Daxton Hill.

11:24 p.m. — Hey, Jahan!

11:20 p.m. — The New England Patriots took Chattanooga guard Cole Strange with the No. 29 overall pick, while the Chiefs snagged Purdue edge rusher George Karlaftis at No. 30 overall.

11:16 p.m. — Your newest member of the Washington Commanders:

11:14 p.m. — Four more picks left in the first round…

11:13 p.m. — At No. 27 overall, the Jaguars took Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd. Then, at No. 28 overall, the Packers picked up Georgia defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.

10:57 p.m. — The New York Jets have traded back into the first round to make their THIRD pick of the night. Gang Green is going with Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson II with the No. 26 overall pick. The Jets have brought in a haul of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and now Johnson. Have yourself a night, Joe Douglas!

10:53 p.m. — Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum is going to the Ravens with the No. 25 overall pick.

10:48 p.m. — “We are so proud of Jahan for being selected by the Washington Commanders,” James Franklin said. “He will be a tremendous addition to the Commanders organization. Jahan has an intense, laser-like focus on greatness and a competitive edge that will serve him well at the next level.”

10:44 p.m. — The Dallas Cowboys, who took Micah Parsons in the first round last year, select Tulsa offensive tackle Tyler Smith at No. 24 overall.

10:37 p.m. — The Buffalo Bills have traded up to No. 23 overall to take Florida corner Kaiir Elam.

10:33 p.m. — Soak it in, Jahan.

10:26 p.m. — The Kansas City Chiefs traded up from No. 29 overall to pick Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie with the No. 21 overall pick.

10:17 p.m. — We’ve got a hometown hero alert. The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett with the No. 20 overall pick, as announced by Penn State letterman Franco Harris. Now here’s a guy who doesn’t have to move.

10:11 p.m. — We’re back to an offensive lineman. Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning is being taken by the Saints with the No. 19 overall pick.

10:06 p.m. — After trading away AJ Brown, the Titans take wide receiver Treylon Burks with the No. 18 overall pick. The Arkansas wideout will step in and replace Brown in the Titans’ offense.

10:05 p.m. — So many trades, man!

10:02 p.m. — A little bit ago, the Ravens traded wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in a deal centered around the No. 23 overall pick.

9:59 p.m. — Go Birds? The Eagles are reportedly trading for Titans star wideout AJ Brown.

9:58 p.m. — Jahan Dotson is an NFL wide receiver, folks.

9:55 p.m. — With the No. 16 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders select… JAHAN DOTSON! Dotson becomes the first-ever pick by the newly named Commanders. He’ll team up with star wideout Terry McLaurin in an NFC East loaded with Penn Staters.

9:46 p.m. — With four wideouts off the board already, we could be entering Jahan Dotson territory. Stay tuned…

9:45 p.m. — Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton is finally off the board. The safety is going to Baltimore with the No. 14 overall pick.

9:35 p.m. — With the No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

9:33 p.m. — MORE. TRADES. This time it’s the Eagles, who traded up from No. 16 to No. 13 overall.

9:30 p.m. — Alabama wideout Jameson Williams is Detroit’s guy. Jared Goff has his No. 1 wideout in Williams, who could’ve very well been the first wide receiver taken if not for his ACL injury recovery.

9:29 p.m. — Another TRADE! The Lions are on the clock at No. 12 overall.

9:25 p.m. — Back-to-back Buckeye wideouts! This time its Chris Olave to the Saints with the No. 11 overall pick. Penn State fans know Olave and Wilson all too well.

9:20 p.m. — TRADE! The Washington Commanders have traded the No. 11 pick to the Saints. Here are the full details:

9:14 p.m. — Zach Wilson has some more help. The Jets take Ohio State wideout Garrett Wilson with the No. 10 overall pick. That Wilson –> Wilson connection could be dangerous.

9:12 p.m. — The New York Jets are back on the clock…

9:08 p.m. — Mississippi State offensive tackle Charles Cross is going to the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 9 overall pick. That’s three offensive linemen off the board so far, for those of you counting at home.

8:59 p.m. — We have our first wideout off the board. The Falcons take USC wide receiver Drake London with the No. 8 overall pick. New Atlanta starting quarterback Marcus Mariota now has another weapon.

8:53 p.m. — Back-to-back hog molly’s off the board! Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal is heading to the Giants with the No. 7 overall pick. New York adds a lineman on each side of the ball with its two first-round picks. Not a bad haul for Big Blue.

8:48 p.m. — We have an offensive player! With the No. 6 overall pick, the Carolina Panthers select NC State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu. There were rumblings that Carolina could go with a quarterback, but it decides to address the offensive line instead.

8:42 p.m. — The other team in town, the New York Giants, take Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux at No. 5 overall. That’s five straight defensive players to start the draft.

8:33 p.m. — The J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets select Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner with the No. 4 overall pick. New York just got a lot more saucy, folks.

8:27 p.m. — The Houston Texans are going with LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. with the No. 3 overall pick. This could be considered the first “surprise” of the draft so far.

8:21 p.m. — Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is heading to Detroit with the No. 2 overall pick. The Wolverine evidently doesn’t have to move very far.

8:19 p.m. — The Jaguars select Georgia defensive end Travon Walker with the No. 1 overall pick. Georgia is now tied for the most No. 1 overall picks in NFL Draft history.

8:10 p.m. — THE 2022 NFL DRAFT IS NOW OPEN! The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock.

8:08 p.m. — Ice Cube is on stage at the 2022 NFL Draft. Yes, that’s right.

8:04 p.m. — The New York Jets, who pick No. 4, are getting impatient.

8:01 p.m. — A video narrated by Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is showing on ESPN as the draft gets underway.

8:00 p.m. — Here. We. Go.

7:55 p.m. — We’re almost there, folks…

7:47 p.m. — A moment of silence is being held for Dwayne Haskins, who tragically passed away after being hit by a truck earlier this month.

7:38 p.m. — Penn State wideout Kaden Saunders showed his appreciated for Jahan Dotson ahead of the draft.

7:15 p.m. — We’re 45 minutes away from the start of the draft. Commissioner Roger Goodell is currently being interviewed on ESPN.
