Penn State Hoops Adds Power Forward Michael Henn Via Transfer Portal

Penn State men’s basketball received some much-needed frontcourt depth help Monday evening.

University of Denver power forward Michael Henn announced he’ll use his final year of eligibility in Happy Valley, choosing the Nittany Lions over Notre Dame and Illinois.

Penn State will be the fifth collegiate destination for the 6′ 7″, 230-pound big man. He also played at UC Davis, Cal Baptist, Portland, and then Denver.

Henn averaged 8.8 points, 1.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds during the 2021-22 campaign. He also shot a career-best 46.8% from the field and 38% from deep last year.

After losing John Harrar, Penn State will likely give Henn — who started at all four of his previous stops — plenty of frontcourt minutes right out of the gate. He’ll compete with incoming freshmen like Kebba Njie and Demetrius Lilley for time down low.

Henn is just the latest graduate transfer to join the Nittany Lions this offseason, joining Cam Wynter and Andrew Funk.
