Three-Star Defensive Lineman Tyriq Blanding Commits To Penn State Football

James Franklin’s Class of 2023 just got stronger, folks.

Three-star defensive lineman Tyriq Blanding announced Friday night that he’s committing to Penn State football.

Coming off a visit to Happy Valley on June 10, the Middle Village, New York, native committed Franklin’s squad over Michigan, Oregon, and West Virginia, among others. He is a top-100 defensive lineman in his class across the nation and the best in his home state, according to 247Sports.

Blanding joins Penn State’s Class of 2023 that is ranked No. 4 in the nation. Franklin still has the best class in the Big Ten, ahead of Ohio State and Northwestern, and it has only gotten stronger with Blanding becoming the 13th player to verbally commit to the Nittany Lions’ 2023 class. The class is headlined by offensive linemen Alex Birchmeier and J’Ven Williams.
