Former Penn State Men’s Hockey Captain Alex Limoges Signs Entry-Level Deal With Winnipeg Jets

Alex Limoges is officially heading up to the Great White North.

The former Penn State men’s hockey captain signed a one-year entry-level with the Winnipeg Jets, the team announced Thursday afternoon. The financial terms are not yet available.

Limoges is coming off a head-turning rookie year with the San Diego Gulls, the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. The Winchester, Virginia native registered a team-record 23 goals for a rookie, along with 17 assists for 40 points to produce as one of the most under-the-radar players in the AHL. He turned pro and signed with the club in August 2021 after his final season at Penn State and finished his Gulls career with 34 goals and 27 assists.

Now that Limoges has signed his first NHL contract, there is a promising chance that he could get called up to make his NHL debut this year if the Jets become plagued by injuries.

During his time at Penn State, Limoges led the Nittany Lions with 22 points and 10 goals scored during his senior season and was also named an All-Big Ten selection for the second time in his career. He finished his Penn State career as the all-time leader in points per game (0.98) for the Nittany Lions. His 51 goals are tied for the third-most all-time in the program, while his 74 assists rank fourth all-time.
