Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Brett Murray Re-Signs With Buffalo Sabres

Former Penn State men’s hockey forward Brett Murray signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres, the team announced Monday morning. His contract is worth $750,000.

Murray spent last season splitting time between the Sabres and their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. The Nittany Lion was originally drafted by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Also in Buffalo is former Penn State forward Brandon Biro, who re-signed earlier this month.

In 2020, Murray made his NHL debut with the Sabres, playing twice before being sent back down to the AHL. Murray was called up again in 2021 for 19 games and scored two goals and logged four assists.

In his most recent season with Rochester, Murray finished with a career-high 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists.

At Penn State from 2016-2018, Murray played 33 games. In his career at the Pegula Ice Arena, Murray recorded a goal and six assists.
