Pat Freiermuth Trolls Pitt Fan With ‘PSU Is Better!’ Signature

Don’t accuse Pat Freiermuth of forgetting his roots.

In the latest chapter of Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth’s ongoing battle with University of Pittsburgh fans, the Nittany Lion continued the “rivalry” while signing autographs for supporters. Two pictures posted to Freiermuth’s Instagram story show the exchange.

First, Freiermuth posed for a photo with a Steelers fan, who wore a shirt adorned with the Pitt Panther. Following the photo opportunity, Freiermuth was nice enough to sign, and some may say improve, the fan’s shirt with an added message.

“PSU is better!” Freiermuth wrote. We’re not arguing that, either.

Since being drafted by the Steelers in 2021, Freiermuth has called Heinz Field Acrisure Stadium home. The stadium not only houses the Steelers, but also the Penn State “rival” Pitt Panthers. As an intensifier, Freiermuth will now catch passes from Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was drafted in the first round by the team.

In May, Freiermuth made headlines for roasting Pickett and Pitt, both while mic’d up during OTAs and in media interviews, asking the rookie quarterback if he’d “ever beat Penn State.”

During Freiermuth’s tenure at Penn State, the Nittany Lions went undefeated against Pitt. In 2018, Penn State won 51-6 on the road and in 2019, the Nittany Lions were victorious in a 17-10 home matchup.

With the all-time series record at 53-43-4, it’s hard to argue with Freiermuth’s written message.
