Penn State Announces Parking Adjustments For Fall 2022 Move-In

It’s almost move-in season, folks.

To prepare for an increase in traffic as students move into their on-campus living assignments, Penn State announced a series of parking adjustments that will be in effect from Monday, August 15, through Sunday, August 21.

Beginning on Sunday night, August 14, Lots 22, 42, 81, and 82 will be exclusively used for 30-minute unloading periods. Students with permits who would usually park in these lots must move their car to the Jordan East or Stadium West lots, where overnight parking will be allowed until midnight on Sunday, August 21.

Students with permits for these lots can move their vehicle back to their regular lot starting at 6 p.m. on August 21, and must move their vehicle back by August 21 at midnight.

Faculty and staff who have permits to park in the lots below must move their vehicles in between Monday, August 15 and Sunday, August 21 to accommodate for student move-in:

  • Brown E: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Green C: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Green N: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Orange B (Softball): Permit holders must park at other Orange lots (except Orange A Katz), Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Yellow H (IM Building): Permit holders must park at other Yellow H lots, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Yellow J: Permit holders must park at Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
  • Yellow T: Permit holders must park at Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.

There will also be some adjustments made to East Deck/Yellow D Tener and HUB Deck to accommodate for student arrival traffic. Note that the East Deck and Tener Lot changes go into effect on August 11.

  • Yellow D (East Deck and Tener Lot) – Begins August 11:
    • Level 1 of the East Deck will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Thursday, August 11, through Sunday, August 21.
    • The Yellow D surface lot at Tener Hall will be closed from Thursday, August 11, through Sunday, August 21.
    • The sections of Bigler Road between Curtin Road and Park avenue may be restricted at times.
    • Penn State suggests that Yellow D permit holders park their vehicle at Jordan East or Stadium West.
    • Hourly visitor parking will be limited at the East Parking Deck.
  • Yellow C (HUB Deck):
    • The sections of HUB Deck parking located below the plaza level entrance will be reserved exclusively for student arrival unloading from Monday, August 15, through Sunday, August 21.
    • Eisenhower Deck, Jordan East, and Stadium West will be available to Yellow C permit holders if the HUB Deck reaches capacity or if alternative parking is wanted.
    • Hourly visitor parking will be limited.

In addition to these parking adjustments, Penn State is also implementing traffic and transportation adjustments to reduce unnecessary traffic due to student move-in.

CATA will resume its full service starting on Monday, August 15. The Campus Shuttle via College Avenue will run on its normal schedule: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Burrowes Road will allow southbound traffic only between Curtin Road and Pollock Road starting on Wednesday, August 17, through Saturday, August 20, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. As a result of this adjustment, northbound CATA and Campus Shuttle stops along Burrowes Road between College Avenue and Curtin Road (Reber Building, Deike Building, Hosler Building, Waring Commons, and Rec Hall) will not be used during this time period.
