Planet Fitness On Fraser Street Now Open

Planet Fitness in downtown State College has opened its doors to the public.

The gym is located at 118 S. Fraser St. in the former location of H&M, which closed in the summer of 2021.

The facility is open 24 hours a day Monday through Thursday. On Friday, it closes at 9 p.m. On the weekend, it’s open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Planet Fitness is one of the largest fitness club franchises in the nation with more than 2,000 clubs sprinkled throughout the country. It prides itself as an affordable gym that fosters a welcoming, non-intimidating environment.

For $10 a month, members have unlimited access to the facility and free fitness training. For $24.99 a month, members have additional access to tanning, massage chairs, use of any Planet Fitness facility in the world, HydroMassages, unlimited guest visits, and more. These offers expire on August 28.

The gym is also giving away free day passes for those who stop by the new location today.

A virtual tour of the facility is available on Planet Fitness’ website. The facility includes four weight racks, more than 20 treadmills, and two rows of cycling machines, among other amenities.

The Fraser Street Planet Fitness webpage also includes a “crowd meter” that shows how busy the gym is at certain times of the day.

Planet Fitness isn’t the only new business opening in downtown State College. Chew Chew Bun, Oeuf Boeuf et BaconThe Squirrel And Acorn Bookshop, Way Fruit Farm, and Mezeh Mediterranean Grill are expected to open in the near future.
