Bassist Victor Wooten To Perform At State Theatre August 30

Bassist Victor Wooten is set to perform at the State Theatre in downtown State College at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30. Wooten will be joined by bandmate Steve Bailey and drummer Derico Watson.

Tickets can be purchased online on the State Theatre’s website.

Wooten is a five-time Grammy award-winning bassist who was a founding member of the acclaimed jazz and bluegrass group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. Pop culture magazine Rolling Stone listed Wooten as one of the top 10 bassists of all time.

In 1992, Bailey paired with Wooten to create the “Bass Extremes” — a bass duo with three albums, including this year’s “S’low Down.” Bailey currently serves as chair of the bass department at the Berklee College of Music.

Watson is a drummer who has collaborated with musical icons such as James Brown and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Wooten’s last performance at the State Theatre came back in 2011.
