Report: Former Penn State Running Back Caziah Holmes Transfers To Florida State

Former Penn State running back Caziah Holmes has reportedly found a new home.

Holmes is now enrolled at Florida State, according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer.

A Penn State football team official confirmed earlier this month that Holmes was longer on the Nittany Lions’ roster. A few days later, Holmes announced he’d entered the NCAA transfer portal after two seasons with the program.

Holmes, a former four-star recruit, arrived in Happy Valley prior to the 2020 season and made an immediate impact as a true freshman. He rushed for 227 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards a carry during his first year donning the blue and white.

However, Holmes’ role diminished in 2021, as he only ran the ball five times in what would turn out to be a redshirt season for him. With the Nittany Lions adding promising true freshmen Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen to the mix this season, Holmes’ path to more playing time didn’t appear promising.

Holmes will now return to his home state of Florida to be with the Seminoles. Florida State is coming off a 5-7 season in 2021, and it won its first game of the 2022 campaign this past weekend with a 47-7 beatdown over Duquesne.
