Staff Picks: Songs We’d Like To Hear At Beaver Stadium

We’re officially one day away from being back in Beaver Stadium for the first home game of the 2022 football season. That means one more day until we get to experience chicken baskets, the S-Zone, and that sweet Beaver Stadium soundtrack.

Of course, we all know we’ll be hearing Penn State staples like “Kernkraft 400” and “Sweet Caroline” echo through the stadium. But with every passing year, new songs come into the mix, and old ones slowly fade out.

With so many songs to choose from in the world, some of our staffers picked what song they’d like to hear at Beaver Stadium this year.

Anna Wiggins: ‘Fire Woman’ — The Cult

This year, Beaver Stadium should throw it back to 1989 with “Fire Woman” by British rock band The Cult. Aside from this track being a personal fave, “Fire Woman” has everything needed to get a crowd of 107,000 fans going. Electrifying drums, soaring guitars, and gritty vocals create a perfect hype song in every way. If you’re not convinced, listen to the first 35 seconds…I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Colleen Nersten: ‘Daylight’ — Harry Styles

Picture this — It’s 12:45 p.m., and you’re basking in the sun’s ~daylight~. You’re drunk off Fireball shooters in the best student section in the country. Life is good. Then, Penn State football calls a timeout, and “Daylight” by Harry Styles comes on the speaker. You and your besties are screaming, “If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you. Dip you in honey, so I could be sticking to you.” Sounds incredibly wholesome to me, folks.

Frankie Marzano: ‘Narco’ — Blasterjaxx & Timmy Trumpet

Some people may say that this is overplayed, but I disagree with that statement…for now. As a Mets fan, this song has a special place near my heart, and I think I would absolutely lose it if the Nittany Lion pulls out a trumpet and starts going ham on the field. This is a can’t-miss opportunity.

Nina Jeffries: ‘Super Freaky Girl’ — Nicki Minaj

This absolute banger of a song has something for everyone. By combining a 1981 classic that the older crowd will recognize with Nicki Minaj’s spin for the younger crowd, I feel this will have everyone busting it down on gameday.

Ryan Parsons: ‘Casey Jones’ — Grateful Dead

This one strictly goes out to the girl in the “What song are you listening to?” video. This is your moment. You deserve it. P.S. 2/14/70 and 10/2/77 are the best versions.

Sam Fremin: ‘CBAT’ — Hudson Mohawke

Last year, Penn State’s offense wasn’t the sexiest. To combat that, James Franklin and his staff have signaled a desire to return to the ground and pound this season. What better way to help the backs find their rhythm than playing CBAT? A smash-mouth offense needs a banger behind it to get the job done.

Gabe Angieri: ‘Narco’ — Blasterjaxx & Timmy Trumpet

Sound. The. Trumpets.
