Penn State Women’s Volleyball Jumps To No. 9 In AVCA Coaches Poll

Penn State women’s volleyball is starting to get recognition for its undefeated record to start the season, as the team earned the No. 9 spot in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll.

The Nittany Lions are one of only three teams in the top 25 that remain undefeated this season, next to No. 1 Texas and No. 25 UCF. Katie Schumacher-Cawley and the team are sitting at an impressive 11-0 after defeating Howard, UAlbany, and Coastal Carolina in the Penn State Classic tournament that wrapped up on Saturday, September 17.

Penn State is also one of the five Big Ten teams in the top ten, as the team will face Nebraska (No. 3), Wisconsin (No. 6), Ohio State (No. 7), and Minnesota (No. 8) in its upcoming schedule.

The newly ranked No. 9 Nittany Lions will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23, with their first conference game against Indiana.
