Beaver Stadium To Begin Beer Sales During Northwestern Game

Update, 9/30 — Penn Staters, rejoice.

On Friday, a Penn State Athletics spokesperson said Beaver Stadium is adding Yuengling to the beer selection at Penn State football’s game against Northwestern on Saturday. The announcement comes after the original slate of beer was set to be Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Blue Moon, and Michelob Ultra.

Update, 5:40 p.m. — A Penn State Athletics spokesperson confirmed Wednesday night that Beaver Stadium will sell four different types of beer at the game on Saturday — Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Blue Moon, and Michelob Ultra.

However, the beer selection may vary each week.

Original Story — Penn State Athletics will officially start selling beer in Beaver Stadium during the Nittany Lions’ home matchup with Northwestern on Saturday, October 1.

The announcement comes after the Penn State Board of Trustees approved the sale of alcohol in Beaver Stadium this past Friday.

The process to purchase alcohol is as strict as you’d expect. Fans 21 and older will obtain a wristband by showing proper identification, and all IDs will be scanned by staff. Patrons will then only be able to purchase a maximum of two 16 oz. drinks at a time, with the beer stands being completely cashless. No alcohol will be sold after the end of the third quarter, and no alcohol is permitted to leave the stadium.

All Beaver Stadium vendors and employers have also completed RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) training and certification ahead of Saturday, in order to identify fans who need assistance and report inappropriate behavior or violations.

Previously, alcohol was available for sale only in club and suite areas in Beaver Stadium and Pegula Ice Arena. The Bryce Jordan Center also sold alcohol at non-Penn State events since 2015, too.
