Report: ESPN Will Interrupt Penn State-Northwestern With Aaron Judge At-Bats

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is blazing a historic path, having already hit 61 home runs on the year.

His 61st home run tied Roger Maris’ American League single-season record. With one home run, Judge would become the sole record holder. And, ESPN is well aware of that.

In order to ensure no one misses Judge’s potential 62nd home run, ESPN has been cutting into its non-baseball programming to televise the outfielder’s at-bats. That broadcast decision is set to continue this weekend.

With one of the Yankees’ contests beginning at 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, Penn State-Northwestern’s 3:30 p.m. kickoff will likely overlap. On Monday, it was announced that the Nittany Lions’ game will be televised by ESPN, making the team subject to the MLB cut-ins.

Unlike President Joe Biden’s speech during week one, the Judge broadcast interruption has been confirmed, according to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand.

The Yankees also have a game Friday at 7:05 p.m., so perhaps Judge will pass the milestone prior to the Nittany Lions’ kickoff. It is currently unclear what the network’s decision will be in that scenario.
