Penn State Homecoming Names April Komal 2023 Executive Director

April Komal will serve as Penn State Homecoming’s 2023 executive director, the organization announced Friday afternoon.

Komal, a junior majoring in secondary education with a focus on social studies, previously served as Homecoming’s Organization Liaison Captain of the Competition committee in 2021 and then the Competition director for 2022.

“I am beyond excited to announce April as the next Executive Director for Penn State Homecoming,” Tim Nevil, Homecoming’s 2022 executive director, wrote. “Through April’s continued dedication to create a home for all members of our Penn State family from students to alumni to faculty and staff, I know that there is no one better to lead our organization into the future.”

Komal’s first major task as executive director is to select the logistics outreach officers, which will be followed up by filling out the executive committee.

“I am extremely honored and excited to be taking on the role of Executive Director for Homecoming 2023. Since my first year at Penn State, Homecoming has been a huge part of the reason I call this community my home. I cannot wait to bring Homecoming’s mission to life next year and amplify the pride of the Penn State family,” Komal said.

Appointing its executive director is the first major step in Homecoming’s year-long preparation. Homecoming’s dates are typically announced in January, its theme is revealed during THON, and its logo is usually revealed during Penn State football’s annual Blue-White game in April.
