Starbucks On South Garner Street To Close, New Location Under Construction On Pugh Street

It’s time to adjust your daily coffee route, folks.

The Starbucks located on South Garner Street is set to close in late January, according to a Starbucks employee, and relocate to a new site at 150 S. Pugh St. underneath the Pugh Centre apartments.

The new location on Pugh Street is scheduled to complete construction and open in spring 2023. According to a Starbucks spokesperson, the location plans to hire 25 employees.

The commercial space underneath Pugh Centre has been vacant since the building’s opening in the fall of 2020.

Starbucks will set up shop across the street from local coffee joints Webster’s Bookstore Cafe and Chew Chew Bun, and just down the road from Elixr.

The Starbucks on Beaver Avenue will join a slew of new businesses opening downtown, including The Whale Tea, Way Fruit Farm Downtown Market & Cafe, and several others within the last few months.
