Three Nittany Lions Named To 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games

A trip to Las Vegas could be on the horizon for three former Penn State football players.

Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders, and Micah Parsons have been chosen to participate in the 2023 Pro Bowl Games, as announced by the NFL Wednesday night. Barkley and Parsons were voted in as “starters,” meaning they were among the top vote-getters at their respective positions.

This year will feature the debut of the NFL’s new Pro Bowl format, which will abandon the typical “game” and include a skills competition and a flag football game, among other festivities.

Barkley earned the nod for the first time since his rookie season. The star running back has totaled 1,170 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in what has been a bounce-back season after back-to-back injury-riddled years.

This is the second consecutive year Parsons has been named to the Pro Bowl. The Defensive Player of the Year candidate has posted 59 tackles, three forced fumbles, a touchdown, and is fourth in the league with 13 sacks.

The nod is especially significant for Sanders, as it’s the first time in his career he’s been named to the Pro Bowl. The Nittany Lion is enjoying the best season of his career with a career-high set in rushing yards (1,110 yards) and touchdowns (11). He’s helped lead the Eagles to their NFL-best 13-1 record.

Last year, Parsons served as Penn State’s only representative in the 2022 Pro Bowl.

The 2023 Pro Bowl Games will kick off from Allegiant Stadium at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 5. The AFC will be coached by Peyton Manning, while the NFC squad will be led by Eli Manning.
