Two Penn State Men’s Hockey Players Named Big Ten Stars Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey forward Kevin Wall and goaltender Liam Souliere were named as Big Ten Stars of the Week. Wall earned the conference’s first star, while Souliere was named as the second star.

Both Nittany Lions played significant roles in Penn State’s recent sweep of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Wall tallied two goals, two assists, and four points over the course of the two games. Wall’s two goals came in game one, while he had one assist in each game.

The Carolina Hurricanes prospect is having a very successful season for the Nittany Lions, with a team-high 11 goals and 20 points. Wall’s nine assists are good for third on the team, with five players ahead of him in ties for first and second place.

Meanwhile, Liam Souliere was very efficient in goal. Souliere allowed just one goal in each game, boasting save percentages of .922 and .923, respectively, and stopping 28 shots in game one and 23 in game two.

The Canada native has been solid all season for the Nittany Lions. Souliere currently has a Big Ten-best 2.10 goals against average, while his .923 save percentage is second-best behind Notre Dame’s Ryan Bischel.

This is not the first time Souliere has been named one of the Big Ten’s weekly stars this season, as he was named the Big Ten’s second star on November 1.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 13, when they head to East Lansing to take on Michigan State.
