Former Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum To Speak At Penn State January 30

Penn State alum Rick Santorum, a former Pennsylvania Senator and two-time presidential candidate, will speak on campus on Monday, January 30. The event will begin at 7 p.m. inside Willard 362.

The event, which is sponsored by Penn State College Republicans, will focus on Santorum’s criticism of President Joe Biden and his national security policy. Students will also be able to ask him questions in a Q&A portion of the event.

Santorum has represented Pennsylvania residents since 1991, serving in the House of Representatives until 1995 and then serving as a Senator until 2007.

He ran for president two times in 2012 and 2016, having the most success in 2012. During that cycle, Santorum won the Iowa Caucus, as well as several other primaries, before suspending his campaign and endorsing eventual Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

After the 2016 primary loss, Santorum joined CNN as a political contributor. The partnership ended in 2021 after Santorum made controversial comments about indigenous history on air.

Santorum’s lecture and Q&A is open to the public and is free for all.
