Penn State Homecoming Unveils 2023 Theme: ‘Illuminate The Lion Within’

Penn State Homecoming’s executive committee took the stage at THON 2023 Saturday afternoon to unveil its 2023 theme.

Executive Director April Komal announced the theme as “Illuminate the Lion Within.”

The executive committee said in a release that every person who has had an encounter with Penn State has “been touched by the spirit of the lion.”

“Even though we come from different backgrounds, we are one community, forever a home, united by the lion within,” Homecoming said in the release. “The lion is a symbol of our best—respect, community, integrity, discovery, excellence, and responsibility. The heart of a lion is inside every one of us — it’s up you to determine how that lion shines through.”

For Homecoming 2022, the theme was “One Community, Forever A Home.” In fact, that theme was mentioned in THON 2023’s line dance in the line, “Village Plaque, pledge for better // One community, home forever.”

If history repeats itself, Homecoming 2023’s logo will be revealed during the Blue-White Game, which is slated for April 15. Additionally, you can expect to hear THON 2024’s theme on the Friday of Homecoming week, if we’re going off precedent.
