[Photo Story] Community Gives Penn State Hoops Send-Off Ahead Of NCAA Tournament

For the first time since 2011, Penn State men’s basketball is dancing in March Madness.

The No. 10-seeded Nittany Lions will face No. 7-seeded Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 9:55 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 16, in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Tuesday morning, students, staff, and fans sent off the Nittany Lions ahead of their departure.

Fans lined the back entrance of the Bryce Jordan Center where they were given white shakers and foam paws. Music, cheers, and “We Are” chants got the crowd hyped.

As each player came out, their faces immediately lit up. The team went down the line and gave fans high fives. Many players thanked folks for their support throughout the season and posed for photos.

Some people came with posters to support their favorite players. Of course, the Legion of Blue came out to cheer on the team, too.

Jalen Pickett, Myles Dread, and Mikey Henn made younger fans’ days by giving them high fives.

All the equipment was packed, all the players took their seats, and the bus pulled out carrying precious cargo.

Best of luck, Penn State!
