Queens Return To The HUB For SPA & Opulence Drag Show

Penn State’s Student Program Association (SPA) held a drag show Wednesday night in the HUB’s Alumni Hall, as part of a partnership with Penn State’s premier Drag Ambassadors Club, Opulence. The evening was hosted by Trixie Mattel and Jujubee, two stars from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Mattel first took the stage as emcee for the night. Mattel is known for competing on the seventh season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and being the winner of “All Stars” season three. She also shares a web series “UNHhhh” alongside fellow season seven costar, Katya Zamolodchikova.

Jujubee was welcomed to the stage, and she was serving major Beyoncé vibes with her black and rhinestone cowgirl dress. Jujubee is well known for competing in the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, the first and fifth seasons of “All Stars,” and the first season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World.”

The Opulence queens sashayed their way to the stage for their first round of performances. Queens Ms. Fire, Hazel Nutspread, Diss Aster, Delilah, Amethyst, Caroline Kiss, ChemiCole, Hexxa, North, and Phok performed.

Afterward, Mattel asked if there were any rich people in the crowd. This led to a few hands being raised in the air, so she followed up by playing her song “Hey, Rich People.” Jujubee returned to the stage to sing her song “Puppet” before handing back the school to the Opulence queens for their second round of performances.

It’s safe to say the people in Alumni Hall were shook.

The night concluded with Jujubee leading the “We Are” chant and Mattel returning to the stage one last time to lipsync to her own version of “Roxie” from the classic Broadway musical “Chicago.”
