Former Old Dominion Defensive Tackle Alonzo Ford Commits To Penn State

Former Old Dominion defensive tackle Alonzo Ford announced his commitment to Penn State on Twitter Wednesday night.

Ford will arrive in Happy Valley with two years of eligibility remaining.

Ford spent two seasons at Old Dominion and appeared in 12 games last season, with 32 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. Two of those sacks came in the Monarchs’ 38-24 loss to Liberty. He notably was an All-Sun Belt honorable mention in 2022.

In 2021, the 6’3″, 272-pound Ford appeared in 12 games, including Old Dominion’s Myrtle Beach Bowl appearance. He had 37 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and half a sack over the course of the season.

The Richmond, Virginia, native was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2020. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Ford was ranked as the No. 2,419 player nationally, the No. 169 player at his position, and the No. 51-ranked player out of Virginia.

Ford is the sixth player to transfer to Penn State this offseason, joining Riley Thompson, Malik McClain, Trey Potts, Dante Cephas, and Storm Duck. Duck, however, reentered the transfer portal on April 21 and transferred to Louisville on April 26.
