Former Penn State Football Tight End Mega Barnwell Enters Transfer Portal

There’s a new development in the Mega Barnwell saga.

The first-year tight end officially entered the transfer portal, he announced Monday. Barnwell departed the program on June 5.

Barnwell had a bumpy ride with Penn State football. He was the program’s first commit of the recruiting Class of 2023 before he decommitted from the Nittany Lions a few months later. He eventually rejoined the group and enrolled at Penn State in January 2023.

While Barnwell came to Penn State on the heavier side for a tight end, James Franklin was interested in pursuing options with the new enrollee. However, while Barnwell was listed as a tight end for the 2023 Blue-White Game, he failed to record a catch in the game.
