Your Official Penn State-West Virginia Drinking Game

Gamedays and tailgating season are almost here, folks!

With Penn State football kicking off its 2023 season against West Virginia on Saturday, the drinks and energy will be flowing all day long. Perhaps you’re out of tailgating shape and need some guidance on where to begin. That’s where we come in.

With that being said, let’s celebrate the beginning of the (likely) Drew Allar era and get the day rolling.

  • Take a shot… It’s GAMEDAY, baby!
  • Have a sip if it’s nice and warm outside.
  • Chug a water after you crack your first brew. That 7:30 p.m. kick time is far away.
  • If you’re up and at ’em early in the tailgating lots, finish your drink if you have a Taylor ham vs. pork roll argument before noon.
  • If you’re in Lot 13, drink another water. Communion will get to you quickly.
  • Take a shot when the buffalo chicken dip appears. This is cause for celebration.
  • As you rally the troops to head to Beaver Stadium, finish your drink and throw your trash away. Keep Happy Valley looking beautiful.
  • If you made it through Gate A without any problems, pat yourself on the back and take a swig.
  • Have a shot if you and your friends go into Beaver Stadium after kickoff. Shame on you.
  • Take a sip if Penn State wins the coin toss.
  • Take a sip for every yellow shirt you see in the crowd. What even is a “mountaineer,” anyway?
  • Take a shot and a deep breath if West Virginia Scores first.
  • Finish your drink if Penn State scores first.
  • Take a sip every time James Franklin appears on the jumbotron.
  • Take a sip if you find Katie Feeney on the sidelines. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll be in the background of one of her TikToks!
  • Treat yourself to a long sip for every Drew Allar touchdown.
  • If you see a blown-up condom floating around Beaver Stadium, take a sip.
  • Take a swig if “Sweet Caroline” plays. This canon event is bound to happen.
  • Finish your drink if Penn State is up at the half.
  • If the Nittany Lion dresses up like a celebrity or well-known character, have a sip.
  • Chug if the stadium is filled with over 100,000 people.
  • Finish your drink if Penn State secures a W.
  • Take a shot (or two) if Penn State loses. It’ll help make the pain go away.

As always, have fun, stay safe, and drink responsibly.
