Drew Allar Named Manning Award Star Of The Week

Penn State football quarterback Drew Allar was named a Manning Award Star of the Week, the Allstar Sugar Bowl announced Tuesday. The honor is presented weekly to the quarterbacks in college football with the best performances from the week prior.

Allar’s recognition comes after his 325-yard, three-touchdown performance against West Virginia Saturday. The game was Allar’s first start after a year of anticipation after the sophomore sat behind sixth-year quarterback Sean Clifford in 2022.

Allar was one of eight quarterbacks named to this week’s list. Other quarterbacks included Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, Jordan Travis of Florida State, DJ Uiagalelei of Oregon State, and others.

This isn’t Allar’s first recognition for his play against the Mountaineers. The Big Ten named Allar its Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday, while the Nittany Lions also named the Ohio native their Offensive Player of the Week.
