Penn State Horticulture Club To Host 109th Annual ‘Hort’ Show

The Penn State Horticulture Club will convert the Snyder Agricultural Arena into an autumn landscape from donated plants from local growers on Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8, for its 109th annual Horticulture Show.

This year’s theme, “A Walk Through Centre County,” will showcase some of Centre County’s most stunning locations and give the community the opportunity to purchase fall flora. The donated plant material will be arranged according to how the plants are intended to be integrated into home landscapes.

Some items on display will include perennial flowers and shrubs, fall annuals, chrysanthemums, and pumpkins. Other landscaping products will be for sale, too. The sales go directly to the club’s trip to the National Collegiate Landscape Competition, which is hosted in Provo, Utah. The Horticulture Club uses the opportunity to connect with professionals and peers who work in landscaping and gardening nationwide.

All students of any major interested in landscaping, gardening, and plants are welcome to join the Horticulture Club. Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the club arranges flowers for college events, hosts a Valentine’s Day flower sale, and organizes various other plant sales. The club also brings in industry professionals throughout the year to educate club members about the industry and the work that they do.

More information on the club and its outreach events can be found on its website.
