Penn State Women’s Volleyball Falls To No. 15 In AVCA Poll

For the third week in a row, Penn State women’s volleyball has taken a hit in the AVCA national rankings. The Nittany Lions locked in at No. 15 in the weekly poll, falling from No. 13.

Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s group hosted UMBC and Seton Hall at Rec Hall for the Penn State Classic this past weekend. Penn State went 2-0 in the tournament, shutting out UMBC and defeating Seton Hall in four sets.

Regardless of the non-ranked victories, it was a successful weekend for the Nittany Lions. Jess Mruzik tallied over 30 kills across two games, and Saturday’s competitive matchup against Seton Hall showcased long rallies and dozens of digs from both sides of the net.

Penn State will open Big Ten competition at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions will face off against Rutgers’ Scarlet Knights.
