[Photo Story] Fall At Way Fruit Farm

About a 20-minute drive west of Penn State’s campus sits the original Way Fruit Farm.

While many know Way Fruit Farm’s downtown location at 252 E. Calder Way, a trip to the 151-year-old farm in Port Matilda is well worth it.

From baked goods to produce to candy, Way Fruit Farm has just about everything imaginable in its farm store.

As fall has just begun, our staff took a trip to see what Way Fruit Farm had to offer.

I️n the main section of the store, there are wooden boxes full of apples, shelves full of pickles, jams, jellies, crackers, and so much more.

There are also crates upon crates of produce set out in an incredibly visually appealing manner, leaving patrons craving fresh fruits and veggies.

Off of the main farm room, there’s a bakery with seating for customers to enjoy Way Fruit’s freshly baked treats. Baking goods are also available for purchase.

Beyond the dining room, patrons are presented with country-style house decor. Candles, wall decorations, and cookbooks are available for those who want to spice up their dinners.

There are plenty of canned goods and boxes of dry pasta for pasta lovers, too.

Following the loop around the store, customers find themselves in the candy section. So many variations of chocolate and sweets line the walls, along with fun sodas like birch beer, ginger beer, and orange soda.

There are even treats for furry friends.

Outside, there are plenty of picnic tables to enjoy Way Fruit Farms’ products in the fresh air. Several rocking chairs line the front of the store for some relaxation, and as fall approaches, there’s a small pumpkin patch for folks to choose a gourd to bring home.

With the break from football coming this weekend, those with cars (or friends with cars) should take a trip to explore the historic farm with mouth-watering goods to choose from.
