Penn State Women’s Volleyball Jumps One Spot To No. 13 In AVCA Poll

Penn State women’s volleyball jumped one spot to No. 13 in the AVCA weekly rankings Monday. The Nittany Lions were previously placed at No. 14.

Penn State swept its two most recent opponents in two five-set matches against Indiana and then-No. 24 Ohio State.

Jess Mruzik and Camryn Hannah led the Nittany Lions with 19 and 15 kills, respectively, against Indiana, while Allie Holland registered nine blocks and Mac Podraza tallied 45 assists.

In Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s group’s outing against a ranked Ohio State team, Mruzik recorded an additional 21 kills and Alexa Markley tallied 15.

The Nittany Lions move on to a 12-3 record and a 6-0 conference record midway through the regular season.

Penn State will continue its Big Ten slate against Iowa at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 13, in Iowa City. Folks can tune into the game on the Big Ten Network.
