Penn State Women’s Soccer Defender Kate Wiesner Named To Big Ten All-Tournament Team

Penn State women’s soccer defender Kate Wiesner was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team Monday afternoon. Wiesner played an integral role in the Nittany Lion back line that only allowed one goal throughout the tournament.

The Monrovia, California, native started and played every minute for Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament, including 110 minutes in the semifinal loss to Iowa. Wiesner shut down the opposition attackers but also helped with production on the front end, recording a shot in the Indiana game and consistently playing progressive passes up the pitch. This is the senior’s first time making the Big Ten All-Tournament team.

After a loss to Iowa in the semifinals, Wiesner and the rest of the Nittany Lions will turn their focus toward the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 6. Penn State will play its first match between November 10-12 against an opponent still to be determined.
