[Photo Story] Penn State vs. Michigan State

Our sweet baby, the Land-Grant Trophy, is returning home to State College!

This weekend, Penn State clashed with Michigan State in the final edition of their yearly rivalry. This year, the Land-Grant rivalry game was held at Ford Field in Detroit, home of the Detroit Lions. The Nittany Lions shut out the Spartans in a 42-0 pummeling.

Between the unique venue, the sheer amount of points scored, and the second consecutive lifting of the Land-Grant trophy, there was plenty to see in Detroit this week. As always, our photographers were there to capture all the action.

Let’s take a look back at some of our favorite pictures.

We’ve got to admit, Ford Field is a beauty. Makes you think about whether Beaver Stadium should add a dome or not.

The players seemed to like the stadium, too. After getting off the buses, they made their way to the field to take in the aura of an NFL stadium.

After soaking it all in, it was time to start warming up.

Once they added the pads, it was almost showtime.

Penn State took the field following the pregame theatrics from Michigan State. Showtime.

The offense had a bit of a slow start. Luckily for Penn State, the defense shut down Michigan State.

In the second quarter, the Nittany Lions finally found the end zone thanks to a two-yard pass to Kaytron Allen.

From there, the offense was cooking.

The offensive success rolled into the second half. Tyler Warren was the first Nittany Lion to score in the second half thanks to a pass from Beau Pribula.

Pribula kept the good times rolling only a few minutes later with a rushing touchdown of his own.

Oh, and in case you forgot, during all this offensive success, the defensive was still crushing it. From the other side of the ball, the defense recorded its third shutout of the season, seven sacks, and 12 tackles for loss, making for a tough day for Spartan quarterback Katin Houser.

In the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions added a pair of touchdowns, one from Theo Johnson and one from Nick Singleton.

After decimating the Spartans, the Nittany Lions finally reclaimed the Land-Grant Trophy.

Penn State was all smiles after ending the regular season with a win.

Goodnight, Detroit.
