Two Penn State Women’s Hockey Players Take Home Weekly CHA Awards

Penn State women’s hockey players Josie Bothun and Tessa Janecke received weekly CHA awards for their efforts over the weekend, the conference announced Tuesday.

Bothun was named CHA Goaltender of the Week after capturing her conference record-tying 19th shutout, en route to the team’s 2-0 win over Robert Morris. She recorded 16 saves in game one to secure the shutout and made 21 saves in Penn State’s 4-1 win in game two.

Janecke was named CHA Forward of the Week after recording three goals and one assist over the weekend, including a highlight real short-handed goal. She has 26 points in 18 games for the Nittany Lions, which is second in the CHA.

The Nittany Lions are 10-7-1 overall and are 7-1-0 in CHA play. Their next series begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 8, against Yale at Pegula Ice Arena.
