Penn State Football’s Olu Fashanu & Chop Robinson Named AP All-Americans

Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu and defensive end Chop Robinson were named AP All-Americans team on Monday. Fashanu earned first-team honors, and Robinson was named to the third team.

This is Fashanu’s second All-American honor for the 2023 season as he was named to the Walter Camp All-American first team on Friday and is the first Penn State first-team All-American selection since linebacker Micah Parsons in 2019. For Robinson, this is his first All-American honor.

Robinson is the third defensive end under James Franklin to become an All-American. Arnold Ebiketie was a second-team All-American in 2021, and Carl Nassib was a first-team All-American in 2015.

Fashanu becomes the first Penn State offensive lineman since Levi Brown in 2005 and 2006 to earn All-American honors in back-to-back seasons. Fashanu is also the first Nittany Lions since Steve Wisniewski in 2010 to earn All-American honors from multiple NCAA-recognized outlets.

In the 2023 season, Fashanu didn’t give up a sack and allowed only 11 pressures. Robinson had 15 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Both All-Americans are expected to be high picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. Robinson has already declared for the NFL Draft and will sit out of the Peach Bowl. Fashanu hasn’t officially declared and is set to make the trip to Atlanta.

No. 10 Penn State will face No. 11 Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at noon on Saturday, December 30, in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will air on ESPN.
