Report: Two Penn State Football Defensive Analysts Expected To Follow Manny Diaz To Duke

Penn State football defensive analysts Gabe Infante and Rick Lyster are expected to join Manny Diaz’s staff at Duke, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Infante spent nine seasons with St. Joseph’s Prep and won four PIAA state titles on his way to a 91-23 record. The analyst left St. Joseph’s Prep in 2018 to become an assistant coach at Temple.

After Temple, Infante served as a defensive analyst and analytics coordinator with the Nittany Lions.

Lyster was a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech before moving to West Point to serve as the defensive quality control coach. After West Point, Lyster worked with Diaz during his time as the head coach and followed the new Duke coach to Penn State to serve in the same role as Infante.

Diaz left Penn State to be the head coach at Duke after leading one of the best defenses in the country for the past two years at Penn State.

Diaz is also expected to retain two members of former Duke head coach Mike Elko’s staff: wide receivers coach Zohn Burden and defensive ends coach Harland Bower, Zenitz reported.
