Staff Picks: Brainstorming New Creamery Ice Cream Flavors
Penn State’s Berkey Creamery has a long list of flavor options when ordering ice cream. From “Raspberry Fudge Torte” and “Russ ‘Digs’ Roseberry” to delicious “WPSU Coffee Break” and “Arboretum Breeze,” the Creamery doesn’t lack in the creativity department.
A few of our staffers got their creative juices flowing and brainstormed a few potential flavors the Creamery should add to its repertoire.
Matt Brown: Chicken Basket Crunch
There’s nothing better than cheering on our Nittany Lions and enjoying a nice chicken basket while doing it. So why not combine two of the best foods Penn State offers: chicken baskets and Creamery ice cream? Imagine it’s a hot September Saturday at Beaver Stadium. You want some ice cream, but you also want a chicken basket. Problem solved. Now, most people would say there’s no chance that would be a good flavor, but if anyone can make it happen, it’s the Creamery.
Aidan Conrad: The Strawberry Standard
When you walk into the Creamery with your friends and want to set the standard, then this flavor is the one for you. It’s sweet, it’s savory, and it’ll set you up for success.
Joe Lister: Dambach’s Donuts
Penn State women’s soccer has a long and storied history, one that wouldn’t mean as much without head coach Erica Dambach. She brought a national championship title to Happy Valley and made the Nittany Lions one of the country’s most formidable programs. It’s time for her to get her praise by way of a Creamery ice cream flavor.
Luke Pieczynski: Rocky Rhoades
This flavor has the potential to be so delicious while also providing nothing but pain at the same time. It’s not just because lactose and I don’t get along too well, either. Arriving from VCU amid a turbulent head coaching crisis at Penn State, Nittany Lion hoops fans knew this was going to be a year of serious team rebuilding. It has been, so far, a Rocky Rhoade for better or worse. Drown your sorrows out in a pint, folks, because there’s still a long road ahead for men’s hoops.
Michael Siroty: Squirrel Tracks
Squirrels are everywhere at Penn State, and their tracks certainly lead to the Creamery. So, what better way to symbolize their presence than a Squirrel Tracks ice cream flavor? Instead of the classic peanut butter cups in Moose Tracks ice cream, there can be pinecone cups. Plus, instead of Moose Tracks’ typical fudge, Squirrel Tracks can have an acorn filling, whatever that tastes like. Sprinkle some walnuts on top to really get the full experience.
