Brainstorming What Should Replace CVS Pharmacy Inside Downtown Target

In lieu of the CVS Pharmacy located inside the downtown Target closing in less than a month, we got to thinking about what could potentially take the pharmacy’s place.

Given that the downtown Target is an easy and frequent stop for many folks, it’s only fair to add something that could bring the community together, rather than leaving the remnants of the pharmacy deserted and purposeless.

Now, we’re not talking about adding another pharmacy… that’s boring. Rather, something more entertaining and worthy of that holy space. We’re thinking something larger than life, and not what you would typically see at your friendly, neighborhood Target.

With that being said, here are some ideas our staff pondered and want to see put into action.

Champs To-Go

Picture this: You’re in mini-Target after a long day of classes and are on your weekly grocery run. You’re aimlessly wandering around the store until you come across “Champs: To-Go” selling dirty Sprites in a sippy cup, naturally, for $2 a pop. Your innocent shopping trip then becomes a boozy one. This would be a game-changer.

Wawa

In December 2022, Wawa announced that Happy Valley will soon be blessed with the Philly favorite as early as 2025. But, why wait? Here’s the perfect opportunity for Wawa to test the waters and see how the community responds to its famous hoagies and beverages upon its arrival. Wawa hoagies with a side of shopping? Sign me up.

Frat Second Room

Getting an invite to the second room on a zone day is every frat bro’s dream. With the second room holding so much legend, why not put it on the map? Having a designated spot for brothers to drink some brews and get to know each other would have people begging for an invite. Imagine a bouncer at the door managing the endless line of soon-to-be pledges. What a wholesome moment!

Football Ticket Help Center

We might be dreaming with this one, but c’mon, how nice would that be? Rather than sending and receiving countless emails, waking up at 6 a.m., and waiting in the queue, all for potentially not getting tickets, you could instead pull up to mini-Target and get your season tickets there. Again, in our dreams.

Caricature Booth

These are just fun and we need more caricatures in life. Besides, State College is home to caricaturist Chip Mock, who would be a shoo-in for the gig.

Mini Berkey Creamery

The hike to the Creamery can be a lot for folks who live downtown, so a mini-Creamery inside mini-Target would be fitting and huge.
