Four Penn State Football Alumni To Play In Reese’s Senior Bowl

Four former Penn State football players will participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama. Johnny Dixon, Adisa Isaac, Kalen King, and Theo Johnson will all play their final game before the draft along with four other Nittany Lions who played in the East-West Shrine Bowl on Wednesday.

Dixon, a cornerback, spent two seasons at South Carolina before transferring to Penn State, where he played his final three seasons. While he saw some action during his first season as a Gamecock, Dixon impressed the year after, recording eight starts while making 34 tackles with five pass breakups and a fumble recovery. By the time Dixon finished at Penn State, he was a consistent starter who tacked on 60 tackles, three interceptions, and 7.5 sacks for the Nittany Lions.

Isaac spent five seasons at Penn State, where he garnered a reputation as one of the nation’s better defensive ends by the time he left. Isaac had a fast-rising start during his first two seasons in Happy Valley, though an injury kept him out of action for the 2021 season. Despite this, Isaac started in every game for the Nittany Lions in 2022 as he notched 28 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and four sacks. After returning for the 2023 season, Isaac recorded 37 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Through his three seasons at Penn State, King was consistently known as one of the team’s better cornerbacks. He started in 22 games for the Nittany Lions along with appearances in 37 games. Coming out of his sophomore season, he was one of the most respected cornerbacks in the country, a reputation he held through most of Penn State’s season. However, after a difficult performance against Ohio State, King struggled to bounce back. While he was named a preseason First-Team All-American by multiple outlets, he didn’t earn any postseason recognitions.

Johnson served as one of Penn State’s top two tight ends during his final season of college football alongside Tyler Warren and was the only one of the pair to declare for the NFL Draft. Johnson sat behind other Pat Freiermuth and Brenton Strange during his first years at Penn State but still entered 2023 with 31 appearances, 591 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns. During his final season in Happy Valley, Johnson notched 34 catches for 341 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. on Saturday from Alabama and will air on NFL Network.
