Brainstorming Self-Love Activities For Penn Staters

It’s Valentine’s Day, which means love is even more present in society than usual. However, not everyone at Penn State has someone to be loved by.

If that’s the case for you, don’t be sad. Singleness isn’t an inherently bad thing. In fact, being alone just means there are more opportunities for you to love yourself. In the spirit of self-love, we decided to brainstorm some ways to love yourself this Valentine’s Day.

Go To The Creamery

No matter what flavor you get, the Berkey Creamery is bound to heal your pain. The best part about taking a trip to the creamery and getting ice cream is you don’t have to be with anyone. In fact, it’s cheaper if you only get one. If you need suggestions, some of us here at Onward State did an ice cream flavor draft. I might be biased but check out my team.

Go To The Hoops Game

If there’s anything that’ll help you forget you’re alone on Valentine’s Day, it’s watching Penn State men’s basketball hit the floor. Luckily, Michigan State is in town, so head over to the Bryce Jordan Center at 6:30 p.m. to watch Mike Rhoades’ first matchup against the Spartans.

Go To The Waffle Shop

One of my closest friends went to the Waffle Shop for brunch by himself and said it was an incredible experience. Take a break from dining hall food and treat yourself to a meal at the Waffle Shop. Seriously, it’s amazing.

Take A Walk

There are many places to get away from the crowd on campus and go for a calming walk. It might be tough with all the snow on the ground, but lace up your boots and get out there. The long list of options includes a lap around Beaver Stadium and a peaceful stroll through the Arboretum.

Cuddle With The Lion Shrine

You won’t feel alone anymore. The Lion Shrine is always there for you.

Watch Andrew Funk Highlights

Do the ladies even mess with a fella who dabbles in some Andrew Funk highlights from time to time? There was no better time to be a Penn Stater than during the Nittany Lions’ Big Ten Tournament and March Madness run last year. The shooter behind the late-season success was Andrew Funk, and he was electric. Take a look at these highlights from the NCAA Tournament win over Texas A&M. They’ll put a smile on your face whether you’re alone or not.

There are many ways to put the “happy” in Happy Valley, but if they aren’t enough and you need someone to talk to, I’m always here for you. Happy Valentine’s Day, Penn State!
