Former Penn State Football Defensive Lineman Jordan Van Den Berg To Enter Transfer Portal

Update: 10:26 p.m.

Van den Berg announced on Twitter that he will enter the transfer portal.

“It was an honor to be a part of Penn State,” van den Berg wrote.

Original Story:

Defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg is no longer with Penn State football, a Penn State Athletics spokesperson confirmed to Onward State. Van den Berg, a redshirt junior, is no longer listed on the team’s online roster.

The South African joined the Nittany Lions ahead of the 2021 season and recorded five tackles on four appearances during his redshirt year. In 2022, van den Berg appeared in all 13 games and totaled nine tackles along with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Last season, the 6’3″ sophomore saw action in 11 games and notched 11 tackles.

Van den Berg becomes the fifth player to leave the team following the 2023 season along with Dante Cephas,  Jace Tutty,  Alex Bacchetta, and Cristian Driver.
