Report: Former Penn State Football Punter Blake Gillikin Inks Deal With Arizona Cardinals

Former Penn State football punter Blake Gillikin has signed a new, two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, Twitter account MLFootball reported on Monday. MLFootball’s report was later confirmed by ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.

Gillikin played for Penn State from 2016-19 and was the team’s starting punter for all four seasons. He totaled 10,283 yards on 239 punts, recording 54 punts of 50 or more yards and dropping 100 punts inside the 20-yard line.

After Penn State, Gillikin signed with the New Orleans Saints in April 2020 but didn’t see any action until 2021. During two years as the Saints’ top option at punter, Gillikin recorded 160 punts for 7,527 yards, including an 81-yard shot that earned him a random drug test, and dropped 59 punts inside the 20-yard line

During the 2023 season with Arizona, Gillikin punted 51 times for an average of 50.6 yards per punt. He landed 21 of his punts inside the 20-yard line and recorded just two touchbacks.
