Report: Penn State Hoops Center Demetrius Lilley Transfers To La Salle

The transfer portal never sleeps.

Penn State men’s basketball center Demetrius Lilley found his new home at La Salle on Monday, according to Verbal Commits. Lilley entered the transfer portal on March 20.

Lilley, out of Lower Merion High School, was recruited by Micah Shrewsberry in 2022 but chose to stay in Happy Valley when the former headman packed his bags for Notre Dame last offseason. The Philadelphia native was one of three scholarship players to remain in the blue and white alongside Kanye Clary and Jameel Brown.

As a freshman, Lilley only appeared in five games for the Nittany Lions. Before his sophomore campaign, Mike Rhoades challenged Lilley to get his body in shape to earn more playing time. The big man lost over 40 pounds last summer.

Lilley’s hard work paid off as he saw an uptick in production in year two. The 6’10” forward played in 20 games, averaging 9.3 minutes, 2.8 points, and 2.7 rebounds. Lilley found himself in and out of the lineup at the end of the season battling a few injuries.
